Participants will explore the advantages and shortcomings of different grading methods and the implications of those methods for classroom policy and practice. Participants will also learn how changing the meaning and consequences of grades affects students’ motivation and understanding of the learning process. Lastly, participants will consider the steps necessary to ensure the grades assigned to students’ performance are fair, accurate, meaningful, equitable, and educationally sound.
