High ability learners come with many areas of strength and some gaps in their skills and knowledge. While some HA learners will start school already reading, others may struggle with literacy. What all students have in common is a need and desire to learn. Using Curriculum Compacting, we can assess what skills our high ability learners have mastered and what they are ready for as they progress as fluent readers. Determining their skill level and eliminating redundancy allows them to engage in deeper thinking and learning about what they are reading.
