Strengthening Your School's K-6 Math Instruction 6-Day Series presented by Ryan Flessner

Description

Available to WVEC Member Schools Only! Ryan Flessner, a Professor at Butler University, will present a series of workshops designed for educators to rethink their classroom practices in elementary (K-6) mathematics. This 6-day workshop series will engage educators in an examination of meaningful mathematical teaching and learning. The sessions will highlight a plethora of research-based practices Ryan has used as a classroom teacher and as an educational consultant for schools and districts across the Midwest. Designed for school-based teams of teachers, instructional coaches, and/or administrators, the series will provide classroom routines that are easy to adapt, activities and games that promote understanding, and instruction and assessment mechanisms that provide educators with the information they need to make sound instructional decisions. With the culmination of latest round of textbook selection, Ryan will show attendees how these routines, activities, and assessments fit seamlessly within newly acquired curricular resources. Each session will include time for educators to become immersed in learning experiences, time to reflect on these experiences as professionals, and time to work as a team to think about how the ideas apply to their own work as they return to their specific contexts.

Dates of meetings:  Oct 9, Nov 6, Jan 22, Feb 12, Mar 5, and Apr 23.
