Strategic competence is essential for helping students approach unfamiliar problems with confidence and flexibility. This session examines common math problem-solving practices that research has shown to be ineffective and should be intentionally discontinued, alongside evidence-based strategies that better support students in analyzing problems, selecting appropriate approaches, and persevering through challenges.
